ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The work is a plan of a museum for art and architecture which is created via a serendipity derived from the horizontal and vertical intersections arising from the spelling of the names of well-known artist and architects. The title of the work refers to the double meaning of ‘orthographic’ which on the one hand is a form of projection that architects use in drawing and on the other hand is also the art of correct spelling.

The work is one of a series which includes museums of artists, architects, philosophers, writers and politicians. There are plans to create more of them. This one is a unique combination of the museums of art and architecture.

The work is part of an ongoing investigation of architectural meanings and their relation to linguistic meanings which is being explored in artworks, drawings and theoretical writing. The museums have interesting curatorial juxtapositions based on the chance relationships between the names.
